Abstract |
Japanese encephalitis is one of the causes of Guillain-Barr? syndrome (GBS). It is not known whether GBS after Japanese encephalitis is axonal or demyelinating type. We report a 68-year-old man case with Japanese encephalitis who developed flaccid quadriplegia. Electrophysiologic study revealed sensorimotor polyneuropathy. And two consecutive electrophysiologic studies had confirmed the motor and sensory axonal neuropathy with improved state. This case suggests that Guillain-Barr? syndrome subtype after Japanese encephalitis may be axonal, and serial electrodiagnostic study is needed to verify Guillain-Barr? syndrome subtype. |
